Guidance Counseling

Academic Guidance Counseling is available to our students throughout their junior high and high school years.  The guidance counselor tracks each student to ensure that the student earns enough credits towards graduation.  The counselor is responsible for the testing programs of the school as well.  The counselor also helps with the college application process.

Ken Hansen, Guidance Counselor / 7th Grade Bible

Mr. Ken Hansen is a local to the Sacramento area, having graduated from Bella Vista High School in 2001. After serving for a few years on active duty in the Air Force, Mr. Hansen transitioned to the Air Force Reserves, which he is a part of to this day. Mr. Hansen earned his Bachelors in Christian Leadership from William Jessup University and his Masters of Divinity from the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, KY. Mr. Hansen is also known as Pastor Ken (his preferred designation), having served for many years in pastoral ministry as a Worship Pastor, Lead Pastor and Church Planter. He is currently the Worship Pastor of Fourteenth Avenue Baptist Church in the Tahoe Park neighborhood.

Mr. Hansen/Pastor Ken has been honored to be married to his sweet wife Angela for 19 years. They are blessed with three wonderful children (Isabella, Mikayla & Titus) who all attend VCS. Beyond what has been mentioned, Mr. Hansen’s interests range from theology and philosophy to music and body building. Beyond all else, his passion is to make God known, honored and celebrated on earth as He is in heaven! As the guidance counselor, Mr. Hansen’s goal is much more than to help students get into college. He longs to help them find their path which God has marked out for their life and to prepare students for the challenges of godliness in adult life, regardless of their vocational plans.

One of Mr. Hansen’s favorite verses is Psalm 16:11, “You make known to me the path of life; in your presence there is fullness of joy; at your right hand are pleasures forevermore.” Whether you are a parent or student, it is Mr. Hansen’s prayer that you are finding your fullest joy in presence of the Almighty God. He is able to save and sustain all those who seek him.
